Six-Sided Fates Introduction

Hopefully, this missive finds everyone well!

I developed a tiny RPG system called Six-Sided Fates and would like to go over, albeit briefly, the details surrounding it.

The Six-Sided Fates system is a set of system requirements for building cinematic, streamlined RPGs compatible with others of the same kind. Every character has a set of attributes (e.g. Brains or Brawn). The attributes are given a value corresponding to the size of their dice pool, consisting entirely of six-sided dice. Six-sided dice were chosen due to their ubiquity. If one cannot find them in their favorite board games, many department stores carry them.

Actions involve rolling the dice pool and choosing the highest result. Depending on the action category, different things may happen. For example, "regular" actions involve looking at a table and determining the success. Regular actions are those directly using an attribute. Then, there are "combat" actions. Combat actions involve an offense, a defense, and comparing the results of the highest value from the dice pool. Because all players have 12 health and, unless otherwise noted, all damage is one point, it is Finally, if at any time a six is rolled, the players earn Agency points, which can be used to purchase actions, some useable only between sessions.

This is fine and dandy and all. But what games are there available for it? As of this writing, there is only one released, titled Margaritaville and one in the works.

Margaritaville RPG

Margaritaville RPG takes place on an "all-inclusive resort" on the island Margaritaville. It is loosely, and sometimes firmly, based on the resort my wife and I took during our honeymoon on the island of Hispaniola.

In the game, people will find a cast of characters, adventure hooks, places, and a map. Everything else, right now, is up to the imagination of the gamemaster and the players!

Further Games

There is one super-secret game in the works. It's right now still in the fleshing out adventures stage, but is slated for availability by the end of the year.

Conclusion

Hopefully, this missive was enough to pique interest into the system. It's largely undeveloped in the sense this is a set of system requirements and there is one game available for it. However, I could foresee many people playing with it, including GrungeWorks, and readily developing many games.
